CAD Projects was founded by Dax Callagher, MRINA and occupies a niche market providing CAD & design support services to Naval Architects, Engineers, Shipyards, Design Offices, Boat & Yacht Owners and manufacturing companies alike.
We specialize in the design and development of pleasure and commercial vessels. Our aesthetic sense coupled with technical skills allow us to create beautiful and well engineered vessels. Our focus for each and every design is efficiency – of build, of maintenance, of operation.
CAD Projects offers a range of technical and design services for both the commercial and pleasure marine sectors. The use of up-to-date, specialist software and internet collaboration tools gives us the flexibility and resources to undertake projects effectively throughout the world.
The principal of the company, Dax Callagher, grew up in New Zealand’s boating capital the Bay of Islands and spent most of his youth on the water. Boating, Fishing & Diving occupied his time until he moved to Auckland to study.
Dax sought a two tier education in the marine industry and after first completing university studies in both Engineering and Marine Design he then went onto complete a Trade Certificate in Ship Yacht & Boat Building at one of New Zealand’s premiere boatyards Marten Yachts.
With his apprenticeship completed on the shop floor a position opened up in the design office of Marten Yachts and Dax stepped into the role of Design Draftsman. It was this role that would go on to form the basis of his future career.
After Marten Yachts Dax went on to work in the design offices of shipyards and Naval Architects around New Zealand eventually ending up running a team of 12 designing world class super yachts.
In his 15 years experience in the industry he has worked on everything from ultra light weight racing yachts, commercial ferries & specialist workboats to 60 meter plus luxury Superyachts & everything in between. Check out the Completed Projects Page to view a snapshot of his past projects.
With sufficient experience under his belt he launched his company CAD Projects specialising in providing support services to Engineers, Naval Architects and shipyards around the world.
